Business software package has international pedigree

COR Enterprise Optimizer is a business software package with an interesting pedigree

COR Enterprise Optimizer is a business software package with an interesting pedigree. It was designed by Russian computer scientists, developed by US academics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is being commercialised by a British-led consortium.

Its backers claim the PC-based business-modelling package enables executives to discover and explore opportunities for improved business efficiency and profit maximisation.

The package, which is being launched by Edinburgh-based Mcor Products & Services in partnership with Ebsco Information Technologies of Massachusetts, has already been tested by a number of companies.

According to Mcor, one of Brazil's leading sugar processors generated annual savings of $10 million (€9.58 million) after conducting a strategic review of its resource allocation, and an Asian pharmaceutical company identified annual profit improvements of $1.75 million.

Cor Enterprise Optimizer is aimed at four main markets: defence, financial services, healthcare and process industries that all typically have disparate and complex structures. It is designed to be used by managers who make decisions on economic, strategic and operational issues.

Users create a flow chart diagram of a problem or process using icons and fill out a table that underlies each graphic object. The software does the programming in the background and the result is a business model that can be changed rapidly as the business develops or new working models are applied. (www.mcor-ps.com)
