SAP, THE business software provider, will begin a recruitment campaign next week to fill 75 positions at its Irish operations, bringing the total number of employees here to about 1,000 people.
The company said 15 positions are new roles in SAP SSC Ireland, which provides post-sales support and software maintenance services to customers. This is a “follow-the-sun” operation which supports SAP customers in North America and Europe through to parts of Asia.
The remaining 60 of the jobs were previously announced through the IDA for the SAP subsidiary, Business Objects, which made a €29 million investment in RD staff at its Dublin office in 2008, with recruitment of 100 people to be phased over four years.
“This is an extension of what the Dublin operation is doing following the acquisition of Business Objects,” said Liam Ryan, managing director of SAP SSC Ireland.
SAP will launch a recruitment advertising campaign next week. No timeline has been given for when the company expects to reach the 1,000 employee mark, but Mr Ryan said it hopes to fill the positions “sooner rather than later”.
The software company has facilities in Dublin and Galway. The Dublin organisation mainly provides services and support for large enterprise customers, in addition to internal IT support and a quality engineering group that tests new software.
The company’s Galway operation provides multilingual support and a technical writing centre for small and medium sized business customers. SAP’s Irish sales operation has some prominent customers including AIB, Bank of Ireland, CIÉ, Eircom, Elan, Glanbia, Guinness, Irish Distillers and Ryanair. This month SAP acquired the Californian mobile technology firm Sybase.
