Canada Life extends serious illness cover

Canada Life has extended the number of serious illnesses covered under its Protection Options Plan

Canada Life has extended the number of serious illnesses covered under its Protection Options Plan. The new illnesses covered are cardiomyopathy, encephalitis, aplastic anaemia, pulmonary artery surgery, balloon valvuloplasty and a revised definition for permanent and total disability.

The additions bring the number of serious illnesses covered to 38 and the new cover is automatically available to all Canada Life serious-illness policyholders. These benefits will be back-dated to take effect from June 1st, 1999.

The life company has also eased up medical requirements for specified occupations. Bar staff, publicans, taxi drivers and fishermen are among those no longer required to submit doctors' reports.
