THE finance director of car components and diesel engine group Lucas Varity has resigned following the merger of Britain's Lucas Industries and America's Varity Corporation earlier this year.

Mr John Grant took up the post of finance director of Lucas Industries in September 1992.

Mr Neil Arnold, who was chief financial officer of Varity Corporation for six years prior to the merger, will take over Mr Grant's responsibilities.
