THE Dublin-based software company CBT has reported that its pre-tax profits doubled in the second quarter of this year to $2.4 million (£1.5 million). CBT, which is quoted on NASDAQ, said that sales in the three-month period to June 30th rose from $8.8 million to $14.6 million. Net profits during the period increased from $936,000 to $2 million.

CBT chief executive Mr Bill McCabe said he was pleased to report "another successful quarter". The strong quarter performance boosted CBT's first-half pre-tax profits to $4.7 million on a turnover of $28 million.

CBT also announced yesterday that it had signed an agreement with the Californian-based computer company, Cisco Systems, to jointly develop educational software to train users of Cisco's internetworking products.
