DevelopmentLand: An interesting opportunity to develop housing in the Co Wicklow village of Roundwood will arise shortly when a bar and an adjoining site of 12 acres goes for sale by tender.
Gordon Elliott of agent Elliott & FitzGerald is quoting over €7 million for the land which up to recent months formed part of the grounds of Vartry Golf Club. It also overlooks the Vartry Lake.
The site is not zoned because of the absence of a development plan for the village. However, it is thought that the location of the land in the village should ensure that it can be redeveloped for housing.
The site also includes a former clubhouse, a detached single-storey building with a function room, kitchen and other facilities extending to 168sq m (1,808sq ft).
The two-storey licensed premises occupies a pivotal position in the village and has a floor area of 445sq m (4,790sq ft). Residential accommodation on the second floor includes five bedrooms.
Roundwood is about 35kms from Dublin and is easily accessed from Dublin by the N11 dual carriageway.
