Entertainment VenueOne of Dublin's most renowned entertainment centres, The Abbey Tavern in Howth, is to be sold at auction on October 26th.

John Ryan of CBRE Gunne is quoting a guide price of around €5.5 million for the landmark bar, restaurant and entertainment venue which has traded strongly over the years.

It is owned by James Scott-Lennon who is retiring to pursue other business interests.

The Abbey Tavern has been a favourite venue for corporate entertainment and has been popular with visiting dignitaries and film stars.

Visitors have included Elizabeth Taylor, Garth Brooks, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Ted Kennedy and the late Tip O'Neill.

The building has a floor area of over 650sq m (7,000sq ft), including a ground floor traditional Irish bar, The Barn function room and, at first floor level, The Abbey Restaurant and The Loft diningroom.
