Dispute between project management firm and Castlethorn Construction is resolved

Issue was over development land worth €18.5m at Killeen Castle

The Commercial Court welcomed the settlement, and praised the parties involved for bringing about a resolution of the dispute.

A legal dispute between a project management company and developer Joe O’Reilly’s Castlethorn Construction group over the future of development land worth €18.5 million has been resolved.

The action, which was admitted to the fast-track Commercial Court list last year, centred around a claim by businessman Patrick White and his companies that they have a contract to buy from the Castlethorn group the 600-acre Killeen Castle, Dunsany, Co Meath, to develop a 177-bed hotel, leisure centre, golf course and 130 housing units at Killeen Castle.

Mr White, and his companies – Killeen Project Management Co and KC Killeen Holdings – had sought orders including that Mr O’Reilly and his fellow Castlethorn director John Fitzsimons complete the sale of the land to his side.

Claims

The case was also against Castlethorn Construction Unlimited Co, Sasula Unlimited Co and Socnule Unlimited Co. The defendants had denied the claims.
