SOLICITOR IVOR Fitzpatrick is shortly to choose a new tenant for his restaurant on Dublin’s South Anne Street following the closure of the Venu brasserie and bar (bar pictured above) run by Charles Guilbaud.
Guilbaud, son of Patrick who operates the Michelin star, award-winning restaurant at the Merrion Hotel, had been trading in the city centre for over three years.
The purpose-built restaurant forms part of a more extensive redevelopment of retail properties in the South Anne Street area carried out by Fitzpatrick and a former partner Paddy McKillen. The basement premises has a floor area of 717sq m (7,718sq ft) – one of the largest for a restaurant in the city centre – and can seat 125 diners.
Though agents Savills are not quoting any particular rent at this stage, it is thought that the final figure will be around €125,000 a year.
Darren Nugent of Savills describes the premises as “one of the best turn-key opportunities in the city, ready for the Christmas trade”. Nugent says the restaurant is fully equipped and has “Rolls Royce kitchens and food preparation areas that cost a fortune to fit” .
