Golf and country club for €1.75m

The highly-rated Rathsallagh Golf and Country Club in Dunlavin, Co Wicklow, is expected to make in the region of €1.75 million when it is offered for sale by tender through agents Lisney on April 16th.

The adjoining Rathsallagh House Hotel and its 260-acre grounds, owned by the O’Flynn family, are not affected by the sale, though the highly successful hotel will continue to have rights of way over the golf lands.

The 274.5-acre golf course designed by Christy O’Connor jnr and Peter McEvoy was officially opened in 1995 by the legendary Australian golfer Peter Thompson, the five times British Open champion.

It is widely regarded as one of the best parkland courses in the country, being placed in the top 30 clubs out of a total of 415.

West Wicklow setting
The 18-hole course has been particularly popular with Dublin golfers because of its convenient location within an hour's drive of the city.

The course itself meanders around several lakes and small streams in a superb picturesque west Wicklow setting.

The golf course is served by a well-equipped clubhouse extending to 1,050sq m (11,300sq ft) and overlooking the ninth 10th and 18 holes. Membership fees are currently €500 per annum.

Ross Shorten of Lisney says they are expecting interest in the golf course from operators, investors and the farming community.

In addition to the golf course, there are 22 acres of farm land with a separate entrance.

The €1.75 million price guide price equates to only €6,372 per acre – below the going rate for well-located farmland.
