RetailLettings: Heatons has announced plans to open a new store in the M1 Drogheda Retail Park this month. It joins Woodies DIY as a second anchor tenant for the scheme.
Heatons has taken a 2,550sq m (27,448sq ft) unit, with a 1,600sq m (17,222sq ft) ground floor. It will sell its usual mix of mens and ladies fashion, sports gear and a wide range of homeware products from the site. The company is undergoing rapid expansion, with 49 stores on the island of Ireland. The M1 Drogheda Retail Park occupies an elevated site with good visibility from the M1 motorway near the striking suspension bridge over the River Boyne.
Other recent signings there have included Tully's, a local soft furnishings retailer. It acquired a 715sq m (7,696sq ft) unit which is also to open this month. The company has been trading in Drogheda since 1924 from a premises on West Street, and now hopes to expand its business with a second location.
Subway has also recently secured a unit of around 100sq m (1,076sq ft) within the park. Subway, the American sandwich chain, was founded in 1965 and is the world's second largest fast food franchise with more than 25,727 restaurants in 84 countries.
First Stop, which is backed and promoted by Bridgestone, is due to open in the coming weeks. It will operate a tyre and ancillary car service business. Western Motors from Galway City has taken all three motormall sites for a state-of-the-art motor showroom development, soon to be developed.
There are two remaining units within the retail park, a unit offering 715sq m (7,696sq ft) and another of 1,080sq m (11,625sq ft).
The joint agents, Hamilton Osborne King and O'Brien Collins Real Estate Alliance, are in negotiations with a number of retailers in respect of the remaining space.
