McDonald's for Balbriggan
MCDONALD’S is to open a fast food drive-through outlet at the Millfield shopping centre which is due to open before Easter in Balbriggan, Co Dublin. The food giant has completed contracts to pay a staggered rent rising to €160,000 per annum for the 300sq m (3,229sq ft) restaurant. Stephen Murray of Jones Lang LaSalle, who are joint letting agents with Savills, handled the letting. The shopping centre being developed by Parkway Properties will be anchored by Tesco, which will trade out of a store of 10,000sq m (107,639sq ft) – its largest in the Dublin area. Tesco also operates a large store on the outskirts of Drogheda.
Super SAT buys HQ
SUPER Sat Systems, which distributes receivers for the new digital terrestrial television system being rolled out across Ireland, has relocated its operation to CityNorth Business Park on the M1 at Stamullen, Co Meath. The company has bought an own-door unit of 426sq m (4,585sq ft) from agent Kelly Walsh at €1,345 per sq m (€125 per sq ft). CityNorth, which adjoins the CityNorth Hotel, also recently attracted a number of other new tenants including Millmount Healthcare, PRM Group, SS Installations and Focus Scientific Solutions.
Stephen's Green bar leased
THE former Major Toms basement bar at the the St Stephen’s Green shopping centre, Dublin 2, has been taken over by publican Christy Leonard and will trade as Harry’s On The Green. The premises had traded as the Scene in more recent times until it went into liquidation. The lease of the 424sq m (4,563sq ft) premises has now been assigned to Mr Leonard on the existing lease rent of €207,0900 per annum, subject to some abatement in the initial years. The new business is expected to capitalise on the 1,851-seat multiplex cinema planned for the top of the shopping centre. Stephen Murray of Jones Lang LaSalle said there had been increased interest in the centre from traders to coincide with Dublin City Council’s decision to grant permission for the cinema.
PD HQ leased to estate agent
AGENT Finnegan Menton has leased the former Progressive Democrats headquarters at 25 South Frederick Street, Dublin 2, to Gormley Art Gallery. The four-storey over basement building with a floor area of 271sq m (2,917sq ft) will produce a rent of close to €50,000 per annum. The agents had previously offered the building for sale at €1.6 million but there were no takers.
