Aldo for Golden Discs shop
International footwear retailer Aldo has begun trading in the former Golden Discs store at the junction of Mary Street and Liffey Street in Dublin 1. It also recently opened a new store in Grafton Street. Landlords Irish Life recently had the rent reviewed to €525,000.
The ground floor has a trading area of 90sq m (969sq ft) and there is a further 91sq m (980sq ft) of retail space in the basement, as well as storage on the upper floors.
Stephen McCarthy of Savills, who advised Golden Discs, said the arrival of Aldo in the north city retail landscape underpins the continuing appeal and trading strength of the area, particularly from an international retailer’s perspective.
The High Court recently approved a survival plan for Golden Discs under which 10 stores and four franchised outlets will continue to trade. The group had operated 20 stores, including six franchises.
