Work to start on Donegal plan

Construction is to begin this November on the first phase of a model holiday village at Rossnowlagh in Co Donegal. Around €5 million is to be spent at this stage on developing a surf school, hostel and shop in one of Ireland's foremost surfing destinations.

A subsidiary company of Harcourt Developments, along with local business interests, is to carry out the initial work which will include provision for a restaurant and commercial units. A second building will have six apartments, a coffee shop, convenience store and an outdoor patio area.

Two further phases of the development will include a village green, craft centres and other amenities involving an overall investment of around €75 million by the Rossnowlagh Amenities Association.

Keith Anderson of Anderson Estate Agents, who is responsible for marketing the facility, said the model village would become the centre for sustainable tourism related projects and activities in an area where watersports had been popular for over 40 years.

TK Maxx opens store in Cork

TK Maxx, the international off-price fashion chain, has opened its largest in-town store in Ireland at the new Cornmarket Centre (pictured) in Cork city centre.

The chain is leasing 204sq m (2,196sq ft) on the ground floor of the centre plus 355sq m (3,825sq ft) on the first floor and is only the second Mega Max store opened in Ireland.

The centre is between Cornmarket Street and Paul Street and has 17 retail units ranging in size from 93sq m (1,001sq ft) to 3,716sq m (40,000sq ft).

Jones Lang LaSalle and Irish and European are joint letting agents while Colliers Jackson-Stops advised TK Maxx.

€70,000 premium for D2 shop

Douglas Newman Good Commercial is quoting a premium of €70,000 for a retail building opposite l'Gueuleton restaurant in Fade Street, Dublin 2.

The former Leather Shop has a ground floor area of 43sq m (463sq m) and an overall space of 203sq m (2,185sq ft). It is held on a new lease at a rent of €60,000 per annum.
