RedevelopmentLand: A site of 3.86 hectares (9.55 acres) with retail potential at Bandon Road roundabout in Cork is expected to make over €40 million when it is auctioned on May 17th through Savills HOK.
The site is being sold on behalf of the Finish plastics manufacturer Uponor.
Peter O'Meara of Savills HOK said that, while the land is zoned primarily for industry and enterprise under the Cork County Council development plan, he believed that the existing use does not reflect its true potential.
The sale has obviously been triggered by the decision to dispose of the adjoining 18 acres held by Heiton Buckley.
Its owners, the Grafton Group, is seeking around €5 million an acre for the land which is being looked at by retailers, hoteliers and warehouse developers.
The availability of the Uponor land will greatly enhance the development prospects for a top class location directly opposite Dunnes Stores.
