A major indoor conference/concert venue. Cork City Council has offered to take a 25 per cent stake in the development to a maximum value of €12 million which would ideally be built within a few kilometres of the city centre. The closing date for submissions is the end of June.

The opening of the Interactive Astronomy Centre at Blackrock Castle next month to develop the city's urban tourism further following the development of the €10 million Lifetime Lab, an interactive environmental education centre at the old waterworks at the Lee Road

The development of St Luke's Church in Summerhill as a cultural venue and the development of a major tourism attraction in Shandon, as well as the expansion of the Butter Museum there

On the retail front, within the next three years, retail accommodation in the city centre will have increased from 92,903sq m (1 million sq ft) to 148,645sq m (1.6 million sq ft). The new 11,148sq m (120,000sq ft) retail space at Cornmarket Street is due to open in the autumn and Dunnes Stores has secured planning permission for 9,290sq m (100,000sq ft) at the back of Patrick Street where it hopes to start construction this month. O'Callaghan Properties is awaiting the outcome of a planning appeal against Cork City Council's grant of permission for a 13,006sq m (140,000sq ft) retail development in the Academy Street/Bowling Green area
