HISTORYA coastal town north of Dublin city on the Broadmeadow estuary, Malahide was home to Viking settlers and very likely inhabited as early as 6000 BC. The Normans and Sir Richard Talbot moved in the 12th century.
AMENITIESMalahide Castle and demesne provide sport and recreational grounds and more. The estuary provides tourist and recreational facilities.
POPULATIONThe 2011 census puts the population at 16,000 (unconfirmed). In 2006, at 31.2 per cent, Malahide had the highest percentage of government, clerical and management workers in north Dublin; 5.1 per cent worked in manufacturing occupations.

SCHOOLSThere are four primary schools and Pobal Scoil Íosa, the secondary school.
