The National Asset Management Agency has appointed an internal candidate, Donal Rooney, to the new role of chief financial officer, fulfilling a key recommendation of an external review of the State loans agency last year.
The appointment followed “an internationally advertised selection process”, the agency said.
Mr Rooney has been working for Nama’s portfolio management and asset- recovery divisions since May 2010.
He will be responsible for finance, business services, treasury and tax, and audit and risk.
Former HSBC chief executive Mike Geoghegan recommended in his report on Nama last year that a chief financial officer be appointed to ease the workload of chief executive Brendan McDonagh.
