Limerick investor Aidan Brooks has closed the £127 million purchase of a swanky Mayfair site, 431-451 Oxford Street, opposite Selfridges. It comprises nine separate shops, as well as a bunch of offices and apartments.
Brooks, a close associate of JP McManus and John Magnier – the three have invested together on several property deals in the past – went sale agreed on the site in October via his Tribeca Holdings entity.
Irish Bank Resolution Corporation was owed about £100 million on the property so that looks set to be repaid from the proceeds of the deal. Hurray.
The seller was Structadene, a London developer chaired by the entrepreneur David Pearl. He is a colourful character with close links to his beloved football club Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs is owned by billionaire Joe Lewis. And guess who are two of his closest associates? JP McManus and John Magnier – the three are all shareholders together in Mitchells & Butler pub group and are also close friends.
It’s a small world if you’re loaded.
