BUILDING MATERIALS giant CRH paid its executives slightly less in 2010 than the previous year, according to its annual report, which the group published yesterday.

Its executives netted a total of €6.16 million in pay, pension and other benefits last year, compared to just over €6.2 million in 2009.

Chief executive, Myles Lee was paid €12,000 less for his services last year. His total package came to €2.44 million in 2010 compared with €2.45 million the previous year. His basic pay was €1.15 million. He received cash payments of €288,000, retirement benefits of €980,000 and other benefits worth €25,000.

Chief operating officer, Albert Manifold, was paid €149,000 more in 2010 than in 2009. His total package came to €1.38 million.

Mark Towe, chief executive of Oldcastle, CRH’s main Americas materials business, received €34,000 extra last year. His total package was €1.463 million.

Maeve Carton, appointed finance director midway through the year, was paid a total of €489,000. Operating profits at CRH were down 27 per cent at €698 million last year.
