DevelopmentLand:Bohan Property Consultants is suggesting a price of €27 million for a well located residential site beside Portlaoise which is to be sold by private treaty.
The 40-acre site is located at Rossleighan on the Mountmellick Road, close to Fairgreen Village where 430 homes were recently sold in another development.
In that case three-bedroom semi-detached houses with around 109sq m (1,173sq ft) of floor area sold from €285,000.
Of the 40 acres going for sale about two are to be reserved for part of a planned orbital road around the town.
Otherwise the zoning under the Laois development plan will allow about 16 units per acre.
The zoning will also allow for the development of other facilities, including convenience shopping.
Portlaoise has developed fast as a regional town due in part to the large number of commuters travelling daily by rail to and from Dublin.
