THE QUINN family has declined to comment on video footage which purports to show Seán Quinn jnr and Peter Quinn negotiating payment from businessmen in the Ukraine.
According to weekend reports, the two video clips are dated January 21st of this year. At that time, the Quinn family were under court orders not to transfer assets from the Quinn property group. Justice Frank Clarke imposed the injunction just over a year ago, following an application by the Irish Banking Resolution Corporation, and the Quinn family consented to the order on July 20th of last year.
Last week, Seán Quinn, his son Seán and nephew Peter Darragh Quinn were found guilty of contempt of these court orders after Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne ruled the three men had continued in their efforts to move assets out of the reach of the IBRC after orders from Mr Justice Frank Clarke.
The video tapes appear to confirm that Seán Quinn jnr and Peter Quinn were engaged in efforts to raise money from Quinn group assets in the Ukraine in January of this year, six months after the injunction was made.
The video, which is believed to have been taped in a restaurant in Kiev, shows Peter Quinn and Seán Quinn jnr discussing a payment of $100,000 from two Russian-speaking businessmen.
