DEVELOPMENT LAND:THE SLOWDOWN in the development land market gives cash-rich builders an opportunity to buy an occasional well-located site, writes Jack Fagan.

One such property going on the market today is at Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, and comes with full planning permission for 91 apartments.

Cathal Kelly of Savills HOK is seeking in the region of €6 million for the site of 0.72 hectares (1.78 acres) at Old Corduff Road, on the opposite side of the N3/Navan Road from Blanchardstown Town Centre.

The site is accessed via a slip road from the Blanchardstown bypass.

It is within a short drive of the M50 and is also convenient to the city centre.

The Blanchardstown area is served by several bus services.

The planning consent provides for a mixture of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. People buying into the scheme will be within a short walk of a range of shopping and leisure facilities in Blanchardstown Town Centre.

Apartment schemes in the area have sold exceptionally well in recent years and, though the market is reeling from a lack of confidence and a shortage of mortgages, there is a strong view that Blanchardstown will be one of the first areas to bounce back when normality is restored.
