The new selling season for residential sites gets under way this week with Hamilton Osborne King and Egan Auctioneers quoting €4.75 million for a ready-to-go opportunity for 70 apartments and five medical suites in Mullingar town centre.
The launch of the 3.2-acre site comes following the sale of several other development sites in Dublin suburbs and Co Louth.
Agent HT Meagher O'Reilly has secured around €23 million - €3 million more than the guide price - for 53 acres of housing land at Ardee Road in Dundalk, Co Louth. The site is expected to accommodate between 750 and 900 houses once services have been provided
In west Dublin, DTZ Sherry FitzGerald has secured around €10.2 million for a three-acre site at Brownsbar House, Kingswood, Dublin 22. It has planning permission for 43 townhouses and was bought from Durkan Residential of Priory Hall in Stillorgan.
Hooke & MacDonald Commercial has also been active, securing over €6.5 million for a site for 44 residential units - all of them apartments with the exception of four semis - at Park na Silla Avenue in Loughlinstown, Co Dublin. The purchaser was Brian Haughey, brother of the well-known housebuilder Gerry Haughey.
The 3.2-acre Mullingar site is located beside the local general hospital and within easy access of the town centre.
Simon McGough of Hamilton Osborne King says the future success of Mullingar as a satellite hub to Dublin has been firmly secured with the opening of the M4 motorway linking it with Dublin. Commuting time has been cut by at least 20 minutes.
In Ratoath village, Co Meath, McPeake Auctioneers is quoting a guide of €500,000 for a half-acre site which goes to auction next month.
