Though building activity in Dublin has largely stalled, brothers Tom and Michael Bailey are continuing to enlarge the town centre facilities at Charlestown shopping centre between Finglas and the M50.

The second phase of the centre is to include a nine-screen, 6,000sq m (64,583sq ft) cinema complex and a 4,000sq m (43,056sq ft) Leisureplex to be run by the UCI-Odeon Group. And to enhance the appeal of the area, two drive-through fast food outlets are to be developed on site by McDonald’s and KFC.

Stephen McCarthy of Savills estimates that around 200 construction jobs will be created during the building programme and around the same number of full-time and part-time posts will be filled when the extensions are completed. Mason Owen Lyons is the joint agent.
