NORTHSIDE SHOPPING centre, which is one of the oldest in the Dublin suburbs, has secured six new tenants and is in advanced negotiations with two more who are likely to move in before Christmas.

Three fashion traders, a greengrocer, dry cleaner and a card retailer have moved into the centre in recent weeks.

A catering company is in talks to take over the main kiosk in the centre, and children’s toy and gift store Good Buys is also finalising rental terms.

The new fashion traders are Prima ladies fashion; Love, which specialises in teenage fashion; and Glam which caters for children, teenagers and women.

Greengrocer Fresh Today has opened a unit between two butcher shops and along the busy Dunnes Stores mall.

Card House and Impress Dry Cleaners complete the new line-up.

Niamh Riney of Savills says that short-term flexible letting terms have been a major factor in attracting these retailers to the centre. “Offering shorter term, more flexible lettings shows that we are willing to do business and has ensured that Northside is more successful in attracting retailers than any other centre at the present time. These retailers are all now well positioned to take advantage of the busy pre-Christmas trading period.”

The centre dates from the 1970s and has a good mix of tenants, including Superquinn, Dunnes Stores, New Look, Game, Unicare, Bests Menswear, Champion Sports and McDonald’s.

Brian O’Farrell’s company, Headland Property Holdings, has secured planning permission to redevelop the centre on a phased basis over five years.

The new facilities will include an eight-storey tower, shops, apartments, a library and medical centre.
