WestEnd pulls in the punters

THE COSGRAVE Group's WestEnd retail park in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, continues to pull in healthy numbers of shoppers

THE COSGRAVE Group's WestEnd retail park in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, continues to pull in healthy numbers of shoppers. In May the park attracted 373,480 shoppers and in June the footfall was 322,901.

The large turnout in both months comes after the park reported an increase of almost 30 per cent in the number of visitors between April 2007 and April 2008.

This followed a fairly drastic change of policy which saw many of the more traditional traders in the retail park replaced by some new fashion and lifestyle companies. The park was also successfully upgraded.

Next is now the anchor tenant in the park with a shop of 3,716sq m (40,000sq ft) while other prominent names include Borders, Burtons, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Laura Ashley, Jean Scene, Ladybird and Esprit.

Ronan Rooney, WestEnd's asset manager, said the decision to make larger units available to the traders has paid off with the significant rise in the footfall.

Other traders in the park include Classic Furniture, Heatons and Argos Extra.

An attractive new unit has also been provided for Costa Coffee in the apex of the L-shaped retail park.

Mobile phone operator 3 is the latest to join the line-up with a 33.3sq m (358sq ft) unit.

Rents in the park are running at over €538 per sq m (€50 per sq ft). The park has 650 free car-parking spaces.
