An overseas investor has paid around €750,000 for a double-fronted period building owned by the Christian Brothers beside St Andrew’s Church on Westland Row in Dublin 2.

The neo-classical three-storey over basement building has a floor area of 642sq m (6,910sq ft) and would be ideal for student accommodation.

It was built in 1868, four years before the Christian Brothers set up a new parish school behind the church.

The secondary school continues to operate from the site. Robert McNamara of Bannon handled the sale.
