Compaq Computers yesterday posted a second-quarter net profit versus a loss last year, meeting Wall Street expectations and returning its commercial personal computer sales unit to profitability ahead of schedule.
The Houston-based company reported net income of $387 million (€415.06 million), or 22 cents per share, compared with a loss of $184 million, or 10 cents, in the year-earlier quarter. Revenues rose 8 per cent to $10.1 billion.
