Crowdfunding site Indiegogo has crashed following a wave of donations to bailout Greece.
A message on Indiegogo this morning read: “The Greek Bailout Fund campaign page is experiencing some issues due to its astonishing popularity. It should be back up shortly.”
The campaign, set up by Londoner Thom Feeney, had raised more than €700,000 by this morning.
Mr Feeney, a 29-year-old shoe shop worker, wrote on the campaign page: “Let’s just get Greece sorted….All this dithering over Greece is getting boring.”
According to Mr Feeney, if all 500 million Europeans chipped in a few euro, the cost of a feta and olive salad, the €1.6 billion target would nearly be reached
“There are 500 million people in the EU. It wouldn’t cost each person much to just sort it out ourselves.”
Mr Feeney says that if he does not get to the ambitious €1.6 billion target, which he is aiming to reach in seven days, all the money will be refunded.
