DAA gears up for car park battle

IS COMPETITION in long- term car parking at the capital's airport beginning to bite the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA)?

The DAA has just begun promoting a "special online car parking" offer for May and June. Travellers who pre-book for seven days or more at the DAA's long-term car park will pay €7 daily, compared with the normal charge of €9.50.

That's a saving of 25 per cent and undercuts its rivals QuickPark. Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary has long hammered the DAA for constantly jacking up the price of car parking at Dublin for no reason other than it can. This latest offer is unlikely to soften O'Leary's cough. The normal charging structure resumes at the end of June.
