The Government's privatisation programme needs to be totally re-evaluated with the privatisation of each company being examined on a case to case basis rather than driven by ideology, Labour MEP Mr Proinsias De Rossa told a state sector worker directors' conference in Tralee, Co Kerry yesterday.

Mr De Rossa alleged Government policy in relation to the State sector was driven by the discredited, right-wing notion that "everything in the private sector is good and everything in the public sector is bad".
