THE chief executive of a textiles company which employs over 380 people in Longford and Tullamore denied there was a crisis facing his loss making company.

Mr Marcel De Bats was speaking following comments by Mr Frank Schreve, chairman of Ten Cate NV, which owns 50 per cent of Atlantic Mills.

Mr Schreve said it was considering measures in regard to Atlantic Mills, including selling its share of the company.

Atlantic Mills is owned by Dutch company, Ten Cate NV, and DMC, a French company.

"In Ireland, we not only have to worry about costs, but we have to take care that turnover doesn't fall too much," Mr Schreve said.

However, Mr De Bats said losses at Atlantic Mills were not as bad as last year and, from a manufacturing point of view, results were improving.
