Denmark is set to become the new world centre for international holding companies following the introduction of a new law.

Speaking at the Taxation 2000 in Dublin, Mr Ned Shelton, an International Tax Consultant based in Copenhagen, said that the new law would put Denmark at the top of the league for attracting international investors and multinationals to set up holding companies in the country ahead of the current leader, the Netherlands.

"During next year, more holding companies will be formed in Denmark than in the Netherlands, and possibly more than in the four lead countries combined. The Danish move is going to cost the Netherlands about $100$200 million (€98E196 million) in lost revenue per year."

The conference which is being hosted by HLB VF Nathan & Co, continues today, covering developments in the area of e-commerce and online tax services and products.
