The Margin was highly amused to hear about the latest advertising pitch to hit the desks of the marketing executives at the Republic's financial institutions.
Post TV, the advertising agency which sells airtime for Telefis na Gaeilge, kindly reminded the financial community this week that "DIRT hits the fan on TV3" shortly.
The letter explains that the hearings of the Dail Committee of Public Accounts, which will examine the findings of the Comptroller & Auditor General's report into bogus non-resident accounts held at Irish banks and building societies, will be televised on TV3. It goes on to invite institutions to consider advertising their services and expertise during the broadcasts.
Marketing executives are no doubt scratching their heads trying to come up with a series of ads that would be most appropriate to air at that time. One slogan that comes to mind is: AIB, the bank that can negotiate tax amnesties with the Revenue.
