It is the second major jobs boost for the Donegal Gaeltacht in the space of a week. Last week, Randox Laboratories said it would create 135 jobs in the Donegal Gaeltacht as part of a €7.5 million investment.

The company is to set up a manufacturing plant to produce a range of medical diagnostic products including analysers and biochips for clinical and research use. A research and development team will also work on developing new diagnostic products.

The jobs will be created over the next three years and Údarás na Gaeltachta is providing grant aid for the development. Randox is expected to buy an existing factory in the Údarás business park in Dungloe as part of the expansion.

Welcoming the latest investment, Pádraig Ó hAoláin, chief executive of Údarás na Gaeltachta, said: "The number and quality of jobs that this company will create is vitally important to the area. The establishment of this business is further evidence of the success of our development strategy which targets the modern services sector for employment generation investment."
