Figures released yesterday show that Dublin is heading for another record year in tourism, according to the Dublin Chamber of Commerce.

The half-year figures to the end of June indicate Dublin will achieve growth of more than 10 per cent for the second consecutive year, equating to a £600 million spend by the visitors to the city and region.

Airlines have posted record figures for the first six months, with Aer Lingus showing a 16 per cent increase in the passenger volume into Dublin, while Ryanair had its busiest month on record in July. Aer Rianta's business is up 14 per cent at the halfway stage with almost three million visitors passing through Dublin airport,
