Reuters reported this week that a New Jersey teenager, whose name has not been revealed, managed successfully to bid $400,000 online for an 1860s-era bedroom suite believed to have belonged to Canada's first prime minister, Sir John A Macdonald. He apparently topped all other bidders last week in an online auction sanctioned by California's eBay Inc.
The boy placed the bid using his parents eBay account, but the shopping spree came to a screeching halt last weekend when his parents quickly flashed the "No Sale" sign on junior's extravagant purchases. "I'm really not supposed to talk about it," the boy told the Kingston Whig-Standard newspaper. "I'm off the Internet."
