The European Consumer Centre (ECC) has issued a warning concerning a Barcelona-based European city guide that is asking Irish small businesses to advertise with it. ECC legal adviser, Mr Colin Daly, says the letters ask businesses to send back a completed, signed form whether or not they would like to advertise. After a short time, the businesses then receive bills for approximately £450 for advertising. To date, the ECC has received five complaints.
The ECC advises reading the small print and warns that conditions are restrictive and may be long term.
