Aer Lingus carries fewer passengers

Passenger numbers at Aer Lingus were more than 27 per cent down last month compared to December 2009.

Figures released by Aer Lingus yesterday show that short-haul numbers fell by 27.3 per cent to 504,000 in December.

Long-haul flights were less affected, falling by 6.8 per cent to 68,000.

Tullow Oil hits gas off Ghana coast

Oil and gas exploration company Tullow Oil said yesterday it had hit gas in Ghana.

In a statement to the Irish Stock Exchange, it said it had encountered gas condensate at the Tweneboa-3 appraisal well in the Deepwater Tano licence off Ghana. Tullow has a 49.95 per cent stake in this licence.

Industrial production down 1.9%

Industrial production fell 1.9 per cent in November from the previous month, but is still significantly higher than the same period last year, according to data published yesterday by the Central Statistics Office.

However, annual comparisons paint a more positive picture, with industrial production up 15.7 per cent on the year. Pharmaceutical products saw the biggest increase with a 34.6 per cent annual jump.
