Exploration firm Providence Resources has released the final data from testing of its Barryroe well off the coast of Co Cork.
Last week, Providence said testing at the well had revealed it was commercially viable, with further tests to be carried out on the gas flows.
Today, the company said the gas zone was far more productive than anticipated, with preliminary modelling of the pressure data indicates that a co-mingled flow rate of about 17 MMSCFGD and 3,350 barrels of oil per day, at a flowing well head pressure of of about 500 psig.
“It is particularly pleasing to note that both the oil and gas zones have far exceeded our pre-drill expectations, both in terms of reservoir development and more importantly, oil and gas flow rates," said chief executive Tony O'Reilly.
The Barryroe site is located 50km of the south coast of Cork and covers an area of 300sq km.
