Bord Gáis has appointed Michael McNicholas as its new chief executive.
Mr McNicholas will join Bord Gáis from NTR, where he is currently the chief executive officer.
From Co Mayo, he has more than 25 years of experience in the Irish and international energy industry, both in the semi-State and private sectors.
During that time, he has held senior positions with responsibility for major infrastructure and capital projects, restructuring, managing regulatory environments and competing in open energy markets.
Separately, NTR has reported a rise in revenues for the six-month period to September 30th, 2012. Group revenue from continuing operations was €10.8 million, compared to €10 million in the same period in 2011.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) increased to €4.5 million from a loss of €3.4 million in the comparable period in 2011.
Losses for the period were €46.8 million, including a €40.8 million loss from discontinued operations, the company said yesterday in an interim management statement.
