We keep hearing of the need for initiative and ideas in this ever more frenetic world where life passes in a time-consuming blur. Credit then to the foresight of one particular woman, Geraldine Kirwan, who set up a one-woman enterprise called Grave Matters.
The idea is one of those so simple, one wonders why it has not occurred to someone before. Ms Kirwan, who lives in Longford, provides a service to design, enhance and maintain graves for relatives who are too busy, too far away or otherwise unable to do it themselves.
Whether its simply weeding a plot, restoring lettering on headstones or something even more comprehensive, she is able to oblige. The business is strictly non-sectarian with Catholic, Church of Ireland and Presbyterian customers. This business has taken off and she is now expanding. Now that's enterprise.
