ESB International has won a major contract to assist in the modernisation of the electricity system in the former Soviet Republic of Kyrghyzstan in Central Asia. Funding is being provided under the EU's TACIS programme.
The Kyrghyz State Energy Joint Stock Company plans to develop a long term scheme for the 20 electricity plants it operates, which together have the capacity to produce 3,500 megawatt.
The experts from ESB International will help to devise a strategic plan and assist KSE JSC with corporate planning.
ESB International has been active in Central Asia since 1993 when it began a major, project for the Republic of Uzbekistan. It has completed a project to assist in the control and dispatch of electricity in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrghyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Takjikistan and Uzbekistan.
