THE European Accountancy Body, Federation des Experts Comptables Europeens (FEE), has signalled that certain companies will have to account in euros in 1998. The FEE has been appointed to assist the European Commission in preparing companies for the change over to the euro.

FEE secretary general, Mr John Hegarty, will be in Dublin on Friday to address a European Movement conference on Preparing for the Euro Implication for your Business. The chairman of the European Movement, Mr Maurice O'Connell, warned that "practical issues on how the EMU will operate on the ground must be urgently addressed...business must not be caught off guard by the current wait and see attitude coming from some quarters".

Avonmore group financial director, Mr Geoff Meagher, will address the conference on pricing policy and the steps Avonmore is taking to prepare for the single currency.
