Euro watchers will be looking for some recovery in the currency's fortunes after a rough week in which it suffered for failing to meet expectations on lower interest rates. A recovery would also be warmly welcomed in Washington, which is not looking for any strengthening in the dollar.
Elsewhere, attention will focus on US employment figures for some indication of the scale of the likely downturn in the US economy. The consensus is that any bad news is already factored into the markets and that the figures will not be as bad as last month.
