BANK of Ireland is to issue American Express cards in the Republic, under a new agreement announced yesterday.

The move will result in 20 new jobs in Dublin to process American Express transactions for the charge card's Irish card members.

Moving the account processing to Dublin from Bristol will mean a speedier response to problems and service requests, according to a spokesman for Bank of Ireland.

Card members will still have access to the travel and financial services available through American Express's international network.
