BoI reports duplication of some debit transactions

Bank did not specify what caused glitch but says error would be corrected

Bank of Ireland says it is aware of a number of debits displaying twice on customer accounts.

The bank did not specify what had caused the glitch but said accounts would be corrected shortly.

A spokeswoman said: “We’re aware that some debit transactions - dating from January 17th - have been duplicated.”

“Accounts will be adjusted shortly,” she added.

The bank issued an apology to customers about the inconvenience on Twitter earlier this morning.

The problem is not thought to be affecting any other part of its banking services.
