German shares again surged to a new record high yesterday but failed to sustain earlier gains to end the day slightly higher, traders said.
The 30-share DAX index ended bourse trade up 4.77 points at 3,067.06 points, but well below the new record set at 3,083.07 points in midday dealings.
Paris CAC-40: 2503.07 (-5.48)
The Paris Bourse was hesitant throughout yesterday's session, ruminating on the likely results of monetary meetings this week in the US, Germany and Britain, and wound up with a moderate loss.
The majority of Paris traders do not expect any interest-rate changes to result from the meeting of the US Federal Reserve's monetary committee.

The Milan stock market chalked up strong progress yesterday on optimistic expectations of an imminent conclusion of negotiations in the engineering and metalworking sectors, traders said.
