Germany's blue-chip DAX index ended bourse trade at a new closing high with sentiment lifted by Fridays strong dose on Wall, Street above 7000 points, firmer debt and a stable, if lower, dollar. At the end of the floor trade session the DAX index stood at 3,436.07 points, up 59.87 points or 1.77 per cent, an all time closing high for the index.

The DAX index was also playing catch up with its IBIS counterpart which reflects after hours trading. The IBIS opened at 3,16.99 points, and rose as high as 3,442.06 points during the morning, though it had fallen back to 3427.86 by mid afternoon.

Paris CAC-40: 2709.21 (+0.93)

French shares were showing a small gain by mid afternoon, having been much firmer during the morning when non domestic buying from cash rich funds saw prices rise, traders said.
